## MC Checklist

Here are some recommended ways to run the announcements:

* [ ] **Prepare the announcements ahead of time**, including all necessary numbers and metrics. You can coordinate with Brent on this
* [ ] **Keep track of the time** so you can begin announcements during the time frame specified in the event invite & promotional messages
* [ ] **Quiet the group to begin announcements** (“Hello, hi” - “Hi, hello”).
* [ ] **Make announcements**
  * [ ] **Provide updates on key campaign statistics**
    * [ ] Number of signatures reached
    * [ ] Percent to signature goal and pacing
    * [ ] Other core goals and progress toward OKRs
  * [ ] **Give shoutouts to other campaign members** in the group. Invite other shoutouts
    * [ ] Community members who are going above and beyond
    * [ ] People excelling in their roles or at canvassing
    * [ ] People who recently made creative contributions other than canvassing
    * [ ] Celebrate the contributions of anyone leaving / moving away
  * [ ] **Encourage people to volunteer for future event roles**. Explain each role, shout out the community members filling them, and invite people to offer to raise their hands or let us know if they’re interested in helping out for the next event
  * [ ] **Call people to action**
    * [ ] Describe what the campaign needs most right now, and how people can directly contribute to a goal (be as specific as possible!)
    * [ ] Get people excited to sign up for shifts!
  * [ ] **Invite people to find friends here**
    * [ ] Say something like: “Raise your hand if you would love to have deeper friendships among the people gathered here. \[pause] It is so hard to make friends in our modern society, and one of the wonderful things this community can do is make it easier. I encourage you as you’re talking to people tonight to explore mutual interests and ask some people to go on a hike or do whatever you like to do!
* [ ] **Get people signed up for canvassing shifts** by passing around a laptop/tablet during or directly following announcements
* [ ] (Optional) **Kick off any other** [**programming**](https://handbook.proanimal.org/for-organizers/campaign-guides/social-and-community-events-guide/event-role-checklists/facilitator-trainer-presenter) or breakout groups
