Events and Collaboration Policy
Pro-Animal Future works alongside many organizations in the animal protection movement, and we encourage our community to engage broadly. We maintain a clear line between our public brand and tactics that don't match our image as a mainstream political organization.
What PAF Won't Organize or Co-Organize
Pro-Animal Future should not organize or co-organize events that could conflict with our mainstream, civic-focused, professional image, such as:
Disruptions
Illegal activities (property destruction, trespassing, open rescue, etc.)
Protests that block traffic or involve chanting, sirens, or bullhorns
Vegan outreach
Events that feature nudity, drugs (including cannabis or psychedelics), speed dating, or activities that involve a lot of touching (i.e. contact dancing, massage)
Anything especially divisive or controversial in any specific chapter region or within the broader community of PAF activists and donors (use your discretion, or ask your campaign director for guidance)
The exception is when a PAF chapter is running its own activity at a larger event, such as petitioning or tabling at a big march or rally.
Note: When attending events that PAF wouldn't organize (described above), avoid wearing wearing or displaying Pro-Animal Future's logo, signage, or name.
Promotion of Other Organizations' Events
In general, PAF members or staff may promote (with discretion) events hosted by other groups on PAF’s internal channels (Slack, Signal, email newsletters), but events involving confrontational tactics or divisive issues as well as photos or videos of such events, should never be promoted on PAF's public-facing social media accounts, PAF’s websites, or on Stampede. The #other-activism channel on Slack is intended for cross-promotion. For what PAF does and doesn't post on social media, see the Social Media Guidelines.
This rule doesn't apply when another group's action is only mentioned on a public-facing PAF channel as part of a collaboration, as long as that group is clearly identified as the host. It's ultimately up to the campaign director’s discretion whether to allow cross-posting of any specific event.
Note: In DC, events organized by other animal advocacy groups belong in the ‘DC Animal Protection’ Signal group rather than in the ‘Pro-Animal DC’ Signal group.
